I wanted to like this place so much more than I did. :/ Atmosphere: whatever. Can't really expect more for small-town Mexican. Service: Our server was...abrupt. He came and asked if we were ready to order within seconds of our sitting down. I figured, hey, it's a small town, people probably come in knowing what they want--so we smiled and politely said we would need some time. He returned a few seconds later...and then a few seconds after that. Finally, my companion asked for some guacamole, which was brought back 30 seconds later (yes, speedy--freshly made? doubt it) and slammed down onto our table as the server walked by. Um, wow. Food: I had the rellano burrito, without meat. My friend had the cheese and onion enchiladas. He enjoyed his; I thought mine was edible, but nothing that wowed me. The chips were fine, and the salsa was flavorful with no heat to it. The guac was fine but, as I noted, not freshly made. My companion said his maragarita was more lemony than limey. Price can't be beat for sure. I believe our total was around $13.00. I'm just here visiting my friend, but if we were to eat Mexican again I would want to try another place in town.

This is a very good restaurant. It rises well above some of the other Mexican restaurants in terms of flavor, service, and price. A friend of mine had told me about this place and I decided to check it out while biking in from Ventura (about 15 miles to the west). I had the Arroz con Mariscos (rice with seafood). It was a tasty dish though I kind of wish it was a little more spicy. A person could always add a dash of Tapatio hot sauce, I guess. Overall is was very good. I enjoyed the chips and salsa. The salsa had just a tiny hit of a habanero-like, tangy flavor... Yum. I was there a couple of hours waiting for a friend. The staff was super friendly and took good care of everything. The service was very fast! Everyone has a favorite restaurant - mine is in Cedar Rapids. But that doesn't mean that I can't give this place a solid four star (I'm a fan!) rating. Toward the end of the mini-vacation trip, I plan to eat here again. It's that good!

Lunch menu is a great value, especially if you get the expresso (apparently Spanish for "size of your head") burrito. When I started asking for the hot sauce (which is a sort-of-almost-hot smokey salsa) it raised my opinion of this place quite a bit. The salsa is just ok, a little too much raw onion for me. The food is pretty good if you dump the hot sauce on it. Not spicy like I want my Mexican food to be, but definitely good food. You usually get your food really fast but sometimes it can take a while to get your check though. Despite its faults, anyone who chooses to go to Taco John's or Taco Bell instead of this place is a fool.

Delightful Mexican spot in MC. We ended up here a number of times, mostly on Sunday afternoons for some reason, but every time was a good as the last. Solid food with enough to take home most times, good prices and amazingly fast service. The first couple times our food came so fast that we figured it was a mistake and we were getting someone else's meal! The chimichangas are excellent and the standard tacos and enchiladas were delicious. Very much appreciated that they use actual cheese on the food as well. End of the day, this was a really good Americanized Mexican place. Good food, good service and good prices - we'll be back the next time we're in town.

I recommend the tortilla soup! It isn't something you see very often on a menu, at least not around here, and they did a great job. Lots of avocado and grilled chicken, fresh veggies, and amazing broth.

By far, the worst Mexican food I've ever had in my entire life... I'm Mexican and I approve this message! By the way, I put 1 star as the rating because 0 stars wasn't allowed.. But don't feel that bad about it because the waiter was nice..

The menu has many choices and all are great prices. The chips and salsa are just ok. I ordered the flautas with spicy beef. I like Mexican food hot and spicy, but don't let them fool you, I tasted nothing hot or spicy. If your wanting something like that ask for some hot sauce or jalepano. I would definitely eat here again tho considering the price and the food was rather tasty. If the chipsnand salsa were awesome it would easily get a 4 star.

This is the best place in town for mexican food! Expect big portions of great mexican food. Not overly spiced like some southwest mex chain restaurants. If you want it spicy you'll have to pour on the hot sauce. The place is very clean both in the dining area and in the kitchen. Good service, great food, and a great value. The Polo Loco is a favorite of my entire family!

My boyfriend and I go to this restaurant as much as we can. The food is great, so is the service. My boyfriend likes the basics (tacos, enchiladas, etc.). But I like all the unusual stuff they have on their menu. Like the seafood dishes. It is our favorite restaurant. The only bad thing is I now can't go to any other Mexican restaurant. No other restaurant compares. The prices vary. I'd say around $6 - $15 a plate.

Goood...not great by any means. The chicken enchilada was what you would expect about anywhere. The beef I thought was better than average. Salsa had good flavor. Very fast service! I'd eat there again, but I wouldn't drive out of my way to do it.

Just awful, nasty food. I wouldn't feed it to my dog.

On Band Festival Day, I had lunch for the first time at Plaza Mexico. I had a single chicken enchilada which was excellent and plenty with the rice and beans. Complimentary salsa and chips were excellent also. For less than$6.00! Will definitely return. The menu is large and worth exploring.
